Demos,
demos and more demos. That's what you'll find on CD 1. Sometimes, if you're
really lucky and there's been a huge month in gaming, you might even find
that they flow over to CD 2. But, for the most part, if you're after demos
then this is the place to come first.
PLEASE
NOTE: After clicking the DOWNLOAD links below you may experience
a long wait due to the size of the game demo. Please be patient as multiple
clicking may cause the installation process to fail or, in some cases,
lock up your machine. For faster access, shut down all open applications
and try installing the game directly form the CD using Windows Explorer.

MoonBase
Commander
 |
That's
one small kill for man... |
MoonBase
Commander puts players in charge of their own lunar territory in
a quest to build the most powerful empire on the moon. The key to
winning is to find, exploit and use valuable energy pools to eliminate
rival factions who are also on the same quest. Along the way players
must choose the best way to accomplish their goals by using weapons,
surveillance or shields to fortify their defenses.
MoonBase
Commander features multiple and unique opposing factions, bright
graphics, a light storyline and various types of terrain that can
be easily customised with the terrain editor. Bottom line —
MoonBase Commander is an addictive, turn-based strategy game with
a simpler feel that provides an exciting entrance into a proven
genre.
Minimum
System Requirements: Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, 32 MB RAM, DirectX
8.1.

New
World Order MP beta test 2
 |
The
trusty crate features largely but does little when fired upon. |
Be
a part of the multiplayer team-based game where teams battle it
out in environments and situations that could be taken right out
of an action-movie.
To
make your gaming experience better, you should take part in the
DirectPlay Beta. DirectPlay 8.2 will improve your game performance
in the New World Order Multiplayer Test 2.0.
Microsoft
has supposedly provided a direct link to the DirectPlay 8.2 beta
patch for New World Order but it never seems to work. See the NWO
site for more up-to-date information.
Please
note that this is beta code and it is being made publicly available
for the current New World Order beta release. The DirectPlay 8.2
beta release requires that DirectX 8.1 be installed on your machine.
You may not re-distribute or modify this beta code or provide your
own direct link to this file [that's why it's not on the CD. Sorry.].
Minimum
System Requirements: Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, 128 MB RAM, DirectX
8.1, 32MB 3D card.

Prince
Of Qin
 |
Sadly,
the turkey is not a playable character. |
Prince
Of Qin, pronounced chin, apparently, is an isometric action/RPG
that explores the final days of the Qin dynasty and follows the
story of the Prince and his cohorts on many quests of uninspired
genocide. There is very little in the way of ritual disembowelment
that would bring this game close to my heart. But the fighting scenes
are pretty good and, if you can figure out how to play it without
the manual, you should have a fairly good time.
Pick
your fighting buddies, buy/sell weapons, learn new skills as you
advance through the levels and, basically, take out any one who
comes near you. The scenery, though lush, is failry repetitive and
boring but the graphics and gameplay can still manage to keep you
enthralled for at least one mission.
Minimum
System Requirements: Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, Pentium II/266MHz,
64MB RAM, 16 MB 3D video card.

Syberia
[updated]
 |
Their
leader long since dead, Hannibal's elephants have taken to performing
mundane duties these days just to make ends meet. |
Syberia
is a first-person adventure game which chronicles the life of lawyer
Kate Walker as she tries to locate Hans - the long, lost brother
of Anna Voralberg - in Siberia in order to ratify the sale of the
family business.
OK.
So it may not sound like much fun but you've got to give 'em 10
/10 for originality. The player will take on the role of the heroine,
Kate Walker, as she sets out on her long journey eastwards, encountering
cities along the way bearing the mark of Hans' genius; cities that
still exude the bygone days of the twentieth century in so many
different ways.
One
thing that the game has definitely got going for it is some stunning
visuals. The 3D creations were based on sketches by illustrators
such as B. Sokal and engender a series of highly unique atmospheres.
The web ist eis also worth a look. Very pretty and some good use
of Javascript window commands. This special press demo contains
a walkthrough with a storyline synopsis, features and gameplay instructions.
Minimum
System Requirements: Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP, Pentium II 350
Mhz, 16 MB compatible Direct3D (DirectX 7) 3D graphics card, 64
Mb RAM, 400 MB free on hard disk, CD-Rom 16X, DirectX 7 compatible
sound card.

Team
Factor 1.5i
 |
Soldiers
often flirt with danger by firing upon each other from well
within the 3m paintball range. |
The
"Team Factor" story takes place at present time, complete
with realistic weapons, equipment and enviroments. Basically it
will be a fight between two teams, with a third one trying to achieve
its own independent objective which collides with objectives of
the first two teams. Imagine a scenario where the US SOCOM team
is going to capture leader of one important Middle East militia
force to bring him to justice alive. The leader has its own elite
forces for protection, of course.
To
mess things up a little, an Israeli commando team appears on the
scene with objective to "terminate" the militia leader
to prevent some further incidents, like his prison escape, or terrorists
attack for negotiating his release. If the SOCOM team will want
to fullfill its own objective, they will need to capture the militia
leader alive, so they will need to fight the militia as well as
repell the Israelis away from him by force. The campaign has sixteen
different missions.
This
demo offers a different map from the other demo called Sarajevo
and incorporates the improvements and changes from the v1.5 patch.
Minimum
System Requirements: Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP, Pentium II 350
Mhz, 16 MB compatible Direct3D (DirectX 7) 3D graphics card, 64
Mb RAM, 400 MB free on hard disk, CD-Rom 16X, DirectX 7 compatible
sound card.
