Activity Monitor

Activity Monitor displays important information based on TPF4's engine activity. It includes two panes - Activity and Connections.

Activity pane displays the information - records the events - that actually happened and - based on the settings - should have been monitored. Each event has time stamp and the information which process caused it.

Connections pane shows the live connections including the information (in case of TCP) which process started the connection (inbound/outbound). Firewall pane also shows processes listening on a specific ports, i.e. ready for the communication.

During the active session the TPF activity pane displays the following information:

  • The actions undertaken by TPF
  • The application which is requesting the accesses
  • The type of access
  • The object accessed (if applicable)
  • The time of the access

A right-click in the Activity panel would displays a pop-up menu with the "Clear Window" option. This will remove all monitored events from the Activity Window.

There are four types of actions:

Window options

Click the Preferences button to open Activity Monitor preferences.

  • History: maximum number of lines (events) featured. If this value is exceeded all events are cleared
  • Merge back lookup

Merge threshold: time limit for counting of same events. If this limit is exceeded next event is showed on new line.
