Hello,

I'm in charge of keeping our school's computer lab operative. In order
to be able to reconfigure the computers faster, we had the idea of using
net.exe (we've got WIN 95B) to copy all system files using our
10MBit-LAN, which is a lot faster than reinstalling Win95 and all
programs. The idea is to format the harddrive, restart using a boot
diskette with DOS IPX Drivers, copying all files necessary to use
net.exe to drive c: and running them with the registry on a disk in
drive a: Then we can logon the network, connect to our backup hard drive
and copy all files to drive c:
Well, that's the theory. This works fine if you have win95 installed on
C:, but as soon as you boot a formatted system and try running "net
logon" you get an error message that protman.dos couldn't load. These
are the files we copied to the hard drive:

- Network Drivers (PnP Driver, Packet Driver, IPX-ODI)

Files from c:\windows:
- system.ini
- net.exe
- net.msg
- protocol.ini
- ne2000.dos
- protman.exe
- protman.dos
- ndishlp.sys

The registry files, system.dat and user.dat, are on a disk in drive a:

As I said, this works as it should as long as windows95 is still on the
hard drive.

Am I missing a file? Do you know what the mistake is? I'd be glad for
some tips...

Greetings, Bjoern.
