The Thessaloniki refinery began operations in 1966 and is located in Ionia in the greater Thessaloniki area. Although a simple refinery, the Thessaloniki refinery's integration with the Aspropyrgos refinery increases the overall efficiency of the Group's refining activities. In addition, the Thessaloniki refinery is the only refinery operating in northern Greece and it provides a regular supply of petroleum products to that area and, increasingly, the Balkans. The Thessaloniki refinery has a nominal crude distillation capacity of approximately 3,300 Kt per year (70,000 bpd).

The following diagram sets out a simplified flow chart depicting the current configuration of the Thessaloniki refinery.

The refinery produces mainly LPG, a variety of leaded and unleaded gasolines, jet fuel, gas oil, fuel oil and asphalt, as well as some of the feedstocks for the Group's petrochemicals facilities located in the same complex. Semi-finished products, such as straight run atmospheric residue and vacuum gas oil, are transported to the Aspropyrgos refinery where they are processed in the cracking complex.
