Description:

This handy utility creates compressed images of CD-ROMs on your hard disk drive and then assigns them drive letters to trick your computer into thinking the CD is in the drive. These images run at 100x speed, substantially faster than the fastest CD-ROM drives. Great for offices where not all the computers have CD-ROM drives, and saves shuffling through CDs to find the one you want.

Description:

A replacement for the MS-DOS command processor, making your command line more powerful and flexible than you thought possible. 4DOS adds features such as shorthand aliases for commonly used commands, a pop-up directory history window, and the ability to copy, move, delete, or list multiple files with a single command. FreeMem Standard 3.0

KatieSoft Scroll

Scroll allows you to open up to four fully functional Internet Explorer windows side-by-side on the same screen. Each browser pane is independent of the others and has its own set of controls. The system start-up section controls start-up and memory options, optimising start-up speed. PaneKiller 1.24

Description:

PaneKiller allows you to browse through the contents of your computer easily without opening Explorer windows. Clicking on the small icon in the system tray pops up a menu in which you can put your drives, control panel, dial-up networking folder or whatever you choose. Each item on the menu can open a new menu with the contents of that item. For example, the hard drive icon opens a new menu of all the folders on the hard drive, and each folder can open another menu with the contents of that folder.

Partition Manager

Allows you to split a physical hard disk drive into several partitions, or logical drives, and then allows you to boot from any of these logical drives. These partitions can be used for different operating systems (such as keeping a Windows 95, Windows 3.1 or DOS partition while still running Windows 98). Allows up to 31 partitions on one drive. APC recommends you read the instructions very carefully and back up all vital data before using Partition Manager.

Pop-Mouse Lite is the freeware version of Pop-Mouse, but still has enough features to keep most users happy. Pop-Mouse uses the screen borders and small mouse movements called "glicks" to activate commands or custom menus. PowerBar 1.65

Description:

PowerBar is a powerful toolbar utility and more. At the top of the toolbar is a small analog clock and display of how much memory is free. You can access all your disk drives with a click, and the tool tip shows you how much space is available on each drive. Launch your favourite applications with a single-click, just by dragging them to the toolbar. Play CD audio tracks and other multimedia files with the multimedia player. PowerBar also monitors your Internet connection and has eight virtual desktops that you can easily switch between if you get bored of the same desktop.

PowerDesk Utilities 98

Rain

Description:

Rain has the same purpose as Waterfall, but is claimed to have a greater cooling effect, at the price of being slightly less stable and lacking the CPU monitor feature. The author recommends trying Rain first, and switching to Waterfall if you encounter over-cooling (if your system freezes up).
