Microprose have sold the right to one of the all-time classic strategy games to Poptop. Poptop have managed to fit in a fertiliser car load of extras into this long awaited sequel. You can choose from over 50 types of train engine, 34 cargo types, and a vast selection of missions, over different continents, ranging from the 1804 to 2000. A highly detailed zoomable map, which is viewable from any angle dominates the screen. Almost every item within the map can be clicked on to get information relevant to that item, whether its a train with its cargo, speedrail2min.jpg (11152 bytes) and destination, or a town with its supplies and demands. Easily identifiable icons border the map allow access to the submenus which contain information on your stocks, trains, competitors, stations etc. A sophisticated economy and stock market for Wall Street plunderers lets players test their entrepreneurial prowess.

Period video and pictures are interlaced with the game giving it an authentic look and feel. The sounds are well done, and each one is easily recognisable as a distinct event.

The game will support multiplayer play for up to 15 players over LANs, modems and the Internet. This game has a wealth of options for strategists and was accurately awarded the E3 award for best non-combat strategy game for 1998.
