Finger clients return information about server users. Sometimes the finger server will be set up so that instead of getting user information, you receive a weather forecast or other special message, but usually it will tell you the user's name and when they last logged on.

The Internet is the common email denominator of the world. The majority of private and public email services are either located on or have gateways to the Internet. If you are using an Internet mail server, you need an Internet mail client.
News applications allow access to Internet newsgroups. Newsgroups are discussion areas to which Internet users contribute. Thousands of discussion groups on all kinds of topics exist. Newsgroups work like a noticeboard — someone puts up a message and others add their comments or start a related discussion, or someone asks a question to which others respond.
