EmailFerret 1.51

eferret1.gif (2475 bytes)

Download the version for your operating system here:

Win 95/98/NT
Description: Lets you quickly find email addresses. All you have to do is enter the first and last names of the person you are trying to contact. EmailFerret then searches eight email directories (BigFoot, Excite, Four11, internet @ddress.finder, Switchboard, MIT Usenet Addresses, WhoWhere, and Yahoo). You have the option of searching in specific geographic areas or within organisations, and there are numerous options to fiddle with. After your search is complete you can double-click on the resulting email addresses to load your email client and compose a message. You can also right-click on the email address and have it added to your Address Book. EmailFerret's only drawback is that you can not obtain extra details to see if the address belongs to the person you are after or someone else.
Requirements: Free
Install instructions: Internet Explorer users just click on the file and choose Open to run the setup program straight from the CD. Nestcape users download to your local drive and run the EXE file.

ICQ Backup 2.6

 icqbckp1.gif (2385 bytes)

Download the version for your operating system here:

Win 95/98/NT
Description: This is a brilliant program for anyone who uses ICQ. Not only does it make you secure in the knowledge that all your ICQ details are safe, it can be used to transfer these details if you install ICQ on a new system. The interface of ICQ Backup is DOS based and not very sophisticated. From the menu you can select to make a backup, restore a backup, plus a couple of other things. The backup is stored as a number of files in your chosen directory. There is also a text file listing the contents of the backup. If you use ICQ then I suggest that you make use of this program.
Requirements: Free
Install instructions: Internet Explorer users just click on the file and choose Open to run the setup program straight from the CD. Nestcape users download to your local drive and run the EXE file.

Infradig Personal Server 1.27

infradg1.gif (4140 bytes)

Download the version for your operating system here:

Win 95/98/NT
Description: An email, Web and FTP server. You need to have a little technical expertise to use this program effectively but if you are after a simple Internet server then this may be it. With this server you can utilise virtual hosts, user directories, and authentication. It supports ESMTP, POP3, IMAP4, FTP, HTTP, CGI and ISAPI. The interface includes an icon in the system tray which provides access to a number of configuration files as well as DOS input windows. Configuring the mail and Web servers requires the editing of configuration files, but there is a comprehensive README file that explains all you need to know. This server boasts a number of impressive features. Performance-wise, it is supposed to be fast. Infradig's tests have the Personal Server processing 35 emails (with no message) per second, with SendMail only being able to achieve 14 emails per second. Some of the Web server features include support for virtual hosts and directories, access control lists (ACLs) for authentication, and remote publishing.
Requirements: Free
Install instructions: Internet Explorer users just click on the file and choose Open to run the setup program straight from the CD. Nestcape users download to your local drive and run the EXE file.

Win 95/98/NT

There are a variety of brushes and tools to assist in your painting activities. There are also a variety of powerful modelling functions available including extrude, scale, rotate, connect, bevel, inset, mirror and smooth. Objects such as spheres, cubes and dodecahedrons can be instantly added from the menu and you can also select to take a screen capture of your work in progress.

RightClick-MP3 1.51

rcmp31.GIF (1825 bytes)

Download the version for your operating system here:

Win 95/98/NT
Description: Encoding and decoding MP3 files is made easy with RightClick-MP3. Using it is as simple as right-clicking on the WAV or MP3 file you want to process, then selecting either the Encode or Decode option. WAV files can also be deleted automatically after they have been encoded. You can also right-click on a folder and have any MP3 or WAV files within it processed. Encoding uses BladeEnc 0.76 and decoding uses L3Decode 2.72. These processes take place in a DOS box but you can set the bit-rate and encoder priority from the Start Menu. Possible bit-rates are 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112, 128), 160, 192, 224, 256 and 320kbps. Some people may prefer a more comprehensive MP3 encoder with a fancy interface, but RightClick-MP3 is more than adequate.
Requirements: Free
Install instructions: Internet Explorer users just click on the file and choose Open to run the setup program straight from the CD. Nestcape users download to your local drive and run the EXE file.

Telnet98 3.0

  telnet981.gif (2418 bytes)

Download the version for your operating system here:

Win 95/98/NT
Description: Anyone who has to use Microsoft's crummy Telnet application for whatever reason should install Telnet98. It has a much nicer interface and is a lot easier to use. It even has sounds. Some of Telnet98's main features include a 999 line scroll back buffer, line printer emulation, named sessions, answer back function, quick direct connect mode, full command reference, and user definable screen resolution (5 to 60 lines, 10 to 132 columns). There is an auto-connection feature which is good but can be a nuisance as it automatically reconnects to the same terminal after you have logged out. Being able to provide a username and password for auto login makes things simpler and the ability to log any session to a file can be useful. Downloading files is possible with the built-in file transfer option (you just have to know the exact location of the file). Telnet98 supports Windows Sockets based ANSI and SCO-ANSI. With ANSI colour support you can also see telnet sessions in colour and customise your display with different text and background colours. It costs $US29 to register Telnet98, which is a bit steep, but then again it will release you from the tortures of using Microsoft's Telnet program.
Requirements: Shareware (30 days)
Install instructions: Internet Explorer users just click on the file and choose Open to run the setup program straight from the CD. Nestcape users download to your local drive and run the EXE file.

JS Office 1.5

jsofice1.gif (1887 bytes)

Download the version for your operating system here:

Win 95/98/NT
Description: An integrated suite of office applications that includes a word processor, contact manager, calendar, email manager, and more. JS Word is the word processor and though it provides some good features it lacks a couple of basic ones. For instance, the ability to make text bold, italicised or underlined with shortcut keys is not possible - you have to click on the specific text and change the attributes through the font menu. The contact manager is very basic but has enough detail fields to be useful. The calendar is impressive as it has the dates of the month in the top left with tasks to be done below it. You then have an appointment schedule to the right so you know what you have to do during the day. There are many more features but there are two that are extremely useful. The Imperial to Metric measurement converter always comes in handy, while the four Computer Information utilities provide useful details concerning your system, memory, drives and video. The entire JS Office interface is well laid out with menus and toolbar at the top and seven tabbed sections at the bottom. You can also access applications and individual features directly from the icon in the system tray. If you know more than one language you will find JS Office even more useful as it fully supports English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
Requirements: Trial (30 Days)
Install instructions: Internet Explorer users just click on the file and choose Open to run the setup program straight from the CD. Nestcape users download to your local drive and run the EXE file.

eCatch 2.1

ecatch1.gif (4434 bytes)

Download the version for your operating system here:

Win 95/98/NT
Description: An offline Web browser that can be used as a monitoring tool, site ripper, URL manager, and plain text search engine. Internet users with dial-up connections will find this program extremely useful. You can easily set up Web pages for eCatch to monitor and download. There is a directory structure on the left and when you click on a link, no matter if you are online or offline, eCatch scans its personal database to check whether the page is already stored and then opens it. Each time eCatch does not find a document, it creates a shortcut in order to download it the next time you connect. Another great use for eCatch is for receiving and posting messages to Web-based mail services (for example, Hotmail) and Web-based forums. You can scan and read in detail any messages, then compose replies without worrying about expensive online charges. When you have a substantial number of Web pages downloaded you can make navigating them a lot easier. A plain-text search engine provides advanced searching capabilities to find information among your collected Web pages. You can also export all your pages with relative links to each other so that you can then browse them easily with no need for eCatch. An index file is created so you can click on the specific links you want.
Requirements: Shareware
Install instructions: Internet Explorer users just click on the file and choose Open to run the setup program straight from the CD. Nestcape users download to your local drive and run the EXE file.

EZSurfer99 5.1

ezurfer1.GIF (7968 bytes)

Download the version for your operating system here:

Win 95/98/NT
Description: If you are after a simple way to surf the Net, whether for yourself or someone else, then EZSurfer may be the answer. Loading EZSurfer brings up a very graphical Web page that is located locally. From this page you can select a number of categories: News, Search, Sports, Entertainment & Music, Computers, Kids Sites, Business, and Travel & Tourism. Clicking on any of these links will take you to more local pages or to external pages on the Internet. In all there is more than 700 links to various Web sites. A Chat link takes you to Yahoo chat, while the Mail Room simply gives you the option to create an email account with providers such as Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and Rocket Mail. On the main portal page there is also a clock, links to download certain plug-ins, and of course a number of advertisements. There is also some background music, which unfortunately becomes very annoying very fast.
Requirements: Free
Install instructions: Internet Explorer users just click on the file and choose Open to run the setup program straight from the CD. Nestcape users download to your local drive and run the EXE file.
