WARNING: The firmware upgrades below are official manufacturer updates, but if you are unsure about updating your drive, APC recommends that you don't. Applying the wrong firmware or in the wrong manner can result in temporary malfunction and in some cases render your drive useless.

APC and most manufacturers provide no technical support for the below firmware updates.

Before updating your firmware, please check the make, model and current firmware revision of your drive by using one of the tools found in our DVD Power Kit Analyse section. Before you install the firmware updates, please remove any discs in your optical drives and close any open programs. After installation, restart your computer and any externally powered optical drives.

Install instructions: Download the file below and run it to unzip the contents. The files will be sent to C:\DVDRW firmware. Make sure that there is no CD or DVD in the DVD-ROM drive and close the tray. Open the C:\DVDRW firmware folder and run the RWFlash.exe program found within. In the RWFlash window, ensure that IDE-DVD DVDRW6002 is listed in the Target Drive cateogry, and that m5a29151.ric is listed in the Source File category. If these two categories are okay, click the Next button, then click Start. Once the firmware update process is complete, click the Close button, then restart the computer.
