Browsers

This is the latest version of Microsoft's full-featured Web browser. It incorporates and supports all the latest technologies available on the Web. Internet Explorer 6.0 includes many new and enhanced features that can simplify the daily tasks you perform while helping maintain the privacy of your personal information on the Web. It also includes advanced security features, such as the Cookie control feature and the Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P).

Customisation
The Internet Explorer distribution on the APC CD has been customised to load www.apcstart.com/runonce on first opening the browser, then it will revert to your regular homepage, if you have one, on each subsequent use. Also the APC Web sites are added to the Favourites list. These can be deleted by right clicking on them. These are the only differences between the customised version of Internet Explorer on the APC CD and the one available for download from the Microsoft Web site.

Mozilla Firefox (formerly Firebird, Phoenix) is based on the Mozilla browser and created by a sub-team of the Mozilla development team. It has fewer features than Mozilla and uses a different interface design. Features include customisable toolbars, importing of IE Favorites, integrated Web search bar, multi-window (tabbed) browsing, source view with syntax highlighting and password manager. Mozilla Firefox also includes a basic download manager that keeps track of your recent downloads and shows which files are currently downloading.
