Using "Windows Update" from the client machine

• In the client machine, Go to the Internet Explorer proxy settings. (Tools-->Internet Options in IE 5 and View-->Options in IE 4).
• Then remove http and ftp proxy settings.
• Configure only Socks proxy with port 1080.
• Windows update works only with this socks proxy setting.

For the SOCKS proxy to work, you have to first ENABLE DNS under TCP/IP Network properties in the client machines. How to.?.
