Telnet:

To use Telnet first you should telnet to your gateway machine using the default port 23. (telnet)
The gateway machine running PPPshar will respond with a prompt like this:

Now to telnet to any remote server on the Internet simply type the server name and press Enter. No need to type open or "O". If you want to specify a port number to telnet, type ":" (colon) Eg: server.com:81

SSH Clients (Secure Shell)

You can use any SSH client that supports SOCKS proxy for secure shell access. Follow the instructions below to configure SecureCRT, a popular telnet client that supports SSH protocol.

• Click Options to get a drop down menu.
• Select Global Options
• Select Firewall on the left panel
• From the Firewall Setup Type, select SOCKS version 4 or SOCKS version 5 (no authentication)
• In the Hostname or IP type your gateway machine IP address (typically 192.168.0.1) and in the Port enter 1080
• Click OK to apply the settings.

For SOCKS proxy to work from the client machines, you have to first ENABLE DNS under Network properties in the client machines. How to..?
