PPPshar Pro - System Requirements

PPPshar runs on a single Windows 95/98/Me or NT/2K/XP computer which does not have to be dedicated to the purpose. PPPshar can share a single Internet connection with nearly any type of client computer running TCP/IP. Windows XP users, please see notes below.

Minimum system requirements for the Gateway Machine (i.e the machine which is connected directly to Internet)

Pentium with 16 MB of RAM
Operating system - Windows 95/98/NT/2K/Me/XP
Internet Explorer 4.x or higher with MS-JVM (see notes below)
Network Adapter properly configured for TCP/IP
Any type of Internet connection.

Minimum system requirements for the Terminals/workstations:

486 with 8 MB RAM
Network Adapter
Any operating system supporting TCP/IP network (WIN9x, NT/2K, Win3.11, Unix, Linux, Mac, OS2 etc.)
Or any computer which can be networked with TCP/IP

All computers should "talk" to each other properly through TCP/IP. See "Setting up your LAN" section for instructions.
Requirement for Gateway machine only : Note: Internet Explorer 5.x or higher with the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM) component is required in the machine where pppshar is installed. If you have Windows 98, Me, NT (with SPs) or Win 2000, then the JVM required to run PPPshar is already present in your computer. Please run the "Check System" program from the PPPshar program group to detect the presence of this component in your system. The "Check System" program will display a message only when the JVM in your machine is outdated or not present. If the program does not display any message then it is most likely that your machine has the required JVM to run PPPshar.You can easily add/update this JVM component using the Internet Explorer setup wizard. Note to Windows XP users: Windows XP does not come bundled with Microsoft (java) virtual machine (JVM) which is required to run java applets and applications. But you can easily upgrade using IE 5 or 6 browser setup or by downloading the jvm from Microsoft website. PPPshar will run only after JVM is installed in your machine. Download the JVM from this link below or update using IE browser 5 or 6. http://download.microsoft.com/download/vm/Install/3802/W9X2KMe/EN-US/msjavx86.exe
If the JVM is the absent in your machine and you do not want to install Internet Explorer, just download and install Microsoft Java Virtual Machine in the gateway machine to use PPPshar. See Installation Notes for more info.
