IRC (Internet Relay Chat) from the client machine.

There are two ways:

METHOD 1: Mapped to a single IRC server. By this all the workstations/clients will be able to connect to only one IRC server which is defined in PPPshar settings.

Default Mapped Chat server in PPPshar is chat.talkcity.com. If you would like to change it to a different server do the following:

• Open settings.ini (Start-->Programs-->PPPshar Pro-->Settings)
• locate the service #irc
• change the host=chat.talkcity.com to host=your_favourite_chatserver.com
• Close PPPshar if it is loaded
• Save and close settings.ini

Configuring mIRC client to use PPPshar

• Open mIRC in the workstation/client machine
• Go to File-->Setup and Click IRC Servers tab (or Go to File-->Connect)
• Click the Add button in the top right corner and type the following in the appropriate box.

and then Click Add. To connect select the name you have given in the description box (in this case it is "Using PPPshar) from the IRC Server list and then Click Connect after filling the other required info like nick name etc.

METHOD 2: Using SOCKS for connecting to any IRC server. For the SOCKS proxy to work, you have to first ENABLE DNS under TCP/IP Network properties in the client machines. How to.?.

Configuring mIRC client to use SOCKS proxy

• Open mIRC in the workstation/client machine
• (v5.71) Go to File-->Connect and select "Firewall" from the left panel
• Other versions - Go to File-->Setup and Click Firewall tab
• Tick the "Use SOCKS Firewall" check box
• (v5.71) Select Protocol as SOCKS 5
• In the hostname text box type 192.168.0.1 [i.e gateway IP]
• Specify Port as 1080
• Leave other fields blank and click OK
• Now you can Connect to any of the IRC networks.
