How to?


1. "Register and Delegate" a domain name.

When you register and accept delegation of a new domain name, it remains registered for two years (renewal of the registration is required after this period). This fee is for processing the application and maintenance of the com.au Domain Name System (DNS).

Direct Applicants and Non-Participating ISPs
The price to register and delegate a new domain name for two years is:

Standard service - $125
The standard service guarantees that the application is processed within ten working days.

Premium service - $225
The premium service guarantees that the application is processed within three working days.

To register and delegate a new domain name for two years:
Complete all sections of the com.au Domain Name Application Form.

2. "Register" a domain name.

3. "Delegate" a domain name to an Internet Service Provider

Delegation requests only apply to previously registered domains. When you receive delegation for a domain name, it remains delegated even for subsequent renewals.

    1. Set up working, reachable and authoritative nameservers for the domain name.
    2. Forward a change delegation request via the com.au Delegation Application Form.


Complete the necessary sections in the com.au Delegation Application Form.

4. "Change Delegation" provides instructions for changing your domain name delegation.

To ensure the quickest turn around time on change delegations, do the following:
    1. Set up working, reachable and authoritative nameservers for the domain name.
    2. Contact the old ISP and have them change their PRIMARY to SECONDARY from you.
    3. Forward a change delegation request via the com.au Delegation Application Form.
    4. Fax Authorisation form to 03 9349 4267

This service is provided free of charge for licensed domain names.

If all these steps are followed, the domain will be redelegated to your new nameservers within maximum 24hours.
