Consisting of the Java virtual machine, the Java platform core classes and supporting files, this is the runtime part of the Java Development Kit. This is a separate download for developers who want to distribute their applications with a runtime, and for end-users who have a Java application and need a runtime for it. It is not needed for the JDK, but is useful for application developers testing their applications as end-users would run them.
