Getit! If you want to run your own FTP or Web server and you have a dynamic IP, get Where Am I. It publishes your IP address into existing web pages on the internet. You can create links that are automatically updated with your new IP. Plus if you get disconnected, and have an app to reconnect you, Where Am I detects your new IP address and publishes it. You can set Where Am I to repeat this function, which will emulate network traffic, keeping your connection from being disconnected by your ISP.
