First Date

A Girl's Best Accessory

By Diane Kaye

As it is with all girls, that first date is always special, even if it is short. How many girls just wish mister right would come along. How many would be happy just to have a lunch date? Well, this girl finally managed her first luncheon date with a real guy. No girls, he is not a crossdresser, but just TG friendly.

I met Evan (we will use that name for this article) through a woman who attends our monthly TG meetings. She was looking for a TG girl who she thought would be a good match for him. She was sort of playing match maker. At first I was very skeptical, but as time went on I decided to at least do an e-mail correspondence. Iím not one to go out with a total stranger. If I donít feel comfortable then forget it. Well Evan and I corresponded for about 3 weeks before I decided I knew him well enough to feel comfortable. He seemed like a friendly and sincere person who was interested in a TG more as for a platonic relationship than sexual. That suited me fine as Iím not one to jump in bed with men, especially since Iím married to a spouse I love. But the thought of a date was intriguing.

After several tries at setting up a time we both were free, the eventful moment arrived. At the suggestion of one of my sisters, I picked a restaurant half way between our homes. Allowing plenty of time to get fixed up was important as I wanted to look my best. After all a girl has to try her best to make a good first impression. Saturday at 2:00 was picked and I e-mailed directions to him.

The weather, that day, turned hot. For the past month it had been raining, but this week end it decided to get up into the 90ís. I decided to dress light. I had this darling outfit I had bought the year before and never had the proper occasion to wear it. Here was my golden opportunity.

As it turned out, the restaurant I chose was elegant. Most of the women going in were wearing heels and dresses, so I was very relieved at my choice of cloths. I had picked a fuchsia skirt, a matching floral blouse and white heels. As it turned out, and quite by chance, my nail polish matched my skirt perfectly. With my usual Saturday makeup, slight eyeliner, slight mascara (Loreal Grand Curl, I might add), and no blush, I felt appropriately dressed. I arrived early, and hoped he did the same. No luck. After almost 30 minutes wait, and becoming uneasy at the thought I had been stood up, he arrived. Traffic and an overheated car was the excuse. No matter he was here and this girl was hungry.

For the next two hours we dined and talked about many things. He complemented me on how well I looked, and that he would of never known that I was a guy had we not corresponded. Our waiter was equally as polite. Even though he kept referring to us as guys, I realized it was just an expression, especially since when I went to the ladies room, he showed me the way.

Evan made an interesting comment that pleased me. He said that "your Adams apple really doesnít show". Now I had always thought it did....hmmm, maybe Iím being too critical of myself. Being the gentleman, he paid for the meal, even though I offered to pay my share. In addition I was afforded the courtesy of having the door held open and being allowed to be seated first. Now I rally like a gentleman, and Evan was just that. My but I was enjoying the attention. As with all good things, we departed. However, we agreed to do it again, when schedules coincide.

Well girls, I have to admit having a date was a lot of fun. As they say, a girls best accessory is a man.
