After only about 6 months of working with make up and the like, I think I've got a good approach. It's kind of a collection of a lot of ideas.
I've solved the makeup on the collar problem so many of us has. I also do things differently than is taught to us. First of all, I have a special skin coloration problem that has light and dark patches. So I first even out the color with dermablend - the one for the arms. Before this though I apply clear antiperspirant to my upper lip and rub it in. It is more water proof, and holds up better. I wait about 10 to 15 minutes. After that, I apply a beard color I got from Carla Fong. and wait 10 to 15 minutes.
Then I add some concealer to problem areas to insure a good base coat that has a even coloration. Then foundation that matches my normal skin color which also is my neck color. I blend and fearther the color to mid neck where the beard stops.
I apply eye liner before foundation as I have more
control. I use liquid pencil type in smoke color. Being left handed I
apply the opposite direction recommended - i.e. nose to edge direction. I pull
on the lid to stretch it and paint. I use a fine line for the lower lid and
apply to the center feathering it as I approach center eye. For the upper
lid, I use a fine line accross and ther widen it on the outside edge. Again
make smooth transitions and insure there are no globs or blobs. I use a Q
Tip to smooth and blend.
I apply the foundation with my finger working it into all pores and crevices with a twisting motion of the finger. Sometimes I use a sponge and blot. I blend and feather the foundation. For day time I do not apply any foundation where there is no beard. At night I put foundation on the entire face. I use a triple concealer on the eyes with a yellow coloration also to hide the dark circles.
After the foundation dries, I apply colors on the cheeks, lids eyebrows as appropriate to match the colors I have chosen.
