A Brief Review
In conversation on chat I have been asked about something called "Changeaways", which I happened to know was run by "Transformation" (who style themselves as "The World's Leading TV Specialist".
Yesterday I was in Town and decided to stop off at Transformation to pick up some information, check that they still existed, etc. with the thought that I could write up a short piece which might be of interest to that section of our community.
So in I went, aproached the assistants, said who I was and that I would like some information to pass on to the TransGender Forum in America. I explained it clearly and simply, and was completly stonewalled!!!! Which on reflection perhaps is not so surprising, considering the coverage the press have given us over the years, however I had wanted to be above board and honest in my intentions. (There is too much secrecy and lies in our transgender therapy, it worries me deeply to have to distort so much in order to pass, to be considered sucessful in our change by our therapists.) I was not offered any literature, and did not ask. So in that light I can only make the following comments:
Transformation has a shop in Eversholt St, a road running down the side of Euston Station in London. They also have a shop and a "gender clinic" near Manchester. Their primary client orientation is stated to be to TV's.
Their London shop is very TV oriented, and includes much of which I can only describe as fetish material. A large section of one wall was given over to a large display of "TV Sex Magizines". A number of sections held clothes of various degree of naughtiness, frilly nylon nighties, underware, french maid uniforms, etc. As well as a large selection of hip padding, bust forms, and other things to be worn underneath everything else. In one section a collection of black rubber body-ware hung limp and wrinkled. There were several displays of "Blister Pack" type items, which I did not look at closely, but one asumes hold many useful items (I can't imagine what the little glass object with a rubber bulb at one end would be used for!). And to one side a collection of creams and makeup? (Long in my past I had been recomended and had purchased from this shop a little jar of "Estrogen Cream" to rub on my chest, in hindsight totally useless (you may laugh, but at the time it was a serious matter for me), and some pills called "femmeglow", both of which cost a pritty penny even then!) In a corner tucked away were two rails of normal clothes, and by the door a stand of high heel shoes. (The shoes I could have looked at in further detail had I stayed to browse.)
Transformation also offers a facility called "Changeaway?" which is promoted in their window display. This shows two manakins, one dressed as a "City Gent" with bowler and brolly, the other as a "Femme Fatal". Clients can go there and be made over into the woman of their dreams. Those that can pass go out for the day / evening. The rest? I cannot say. Also possibly popular as a laugh for the City based office party, or other social event.
Unfortunately Transformation has very much the air of the seedy West End sex shop. If you are into that side of TV and gender role switching, there is undoubtly much of interest. As a CDer or TS wishing to explore or transition fully to the female side of your psychie you will probably find it embarrasing, if nothing else. And in my opinion definitetly not the place to take a straight GG either.
