SOUTHERN COMFORT CONFERENCE
Sept 28 - Oct. 1

Join us in the heart of the south

celebration, and discovery.
IS SOUTHERN COMFORT RIGHT FOR YOU?
Are you ? ? ?:
- A person just beginning their quest to
understand their transgender spirit?
- A transexual anticipating surgery?
- A transgenderist and wondering if you are
all alone?
- A crossdresser looking for excitement,
shopping and a good time?
- The loving partner of someone who has
discovered their transgender spirit, and
now wonders what comes next?
- A heterosexual man who doesn't understand
his powerful attraction to femininity and
what it does or doesn't mean about his
sexuality?
- A psychologist seeing transgendered
clients?
- The Significant Other of a crossdresser
who thinks you are the only couple in the
world who fight about who wears what,
where, and when?
- Looking to improve your appearance?
If so, then Southern Comfort is right for
you!
Southern Comfort offers an ideal place to
find answers, discover friends, discuss
similar concerns and enjoy yourself in
the company of like-minded individuals.
What is Southern Comfort?
Southern Comfort Conference (S.E.R.C.,
Inc.) is the premier gathering of the
transgender community in the Southeast.
Dedicated to helping the gender gifted
explore their unique character through a
vast array of seminars and activities, it
also offers the opportunity to experience
one of the most exciting and friendly
cities in the country.
For 1995, the organizers have put
together a completely revamped schedule
of programs that will interest just about
everyone. Additionally, we offer
significant programs of particular
interest for those who identify as
crossdressers, transgenderists or
transsexuals and their significant
others. All of our programs reflect our
commitment to serve the diverse
transgender community. At Southern
Comfort you'll meet national leaders,
interact with your peers, and learn from
well known and highly respected
professionals. Every attendee at Southern
Comfort is welcome and encouraged to
attend any and all programs they may find
of interest.
Programs will address everything from
appearance, voice, makeup and the
philosophy of passing, to legal concerns,
identity issues, medical procedures,
transgender civil rights and political
awareness. Almost any subject of interest
- spirituality, humor, hormones,
sexuality, surgery, support group
organizing - is almost certain to be
addressed at Southern Comfort.
There's plenty to do outside the
seminars. Socialize with old and newfound
friends in the safe confines of the
recently renovated hotel/conference
center. Shop-till-you-drop at the full
complement of specialty vendors at the
conference itself or, for the more
adventurous, explore some of the finest
shopping available in the country at
local malls and specialty shops.
Of course, while learning and exploring
are important, everyone needs to have a
little fun. Evening brings a full measure
of entertainment and enjoyment for which
Southern Comfort has become so well
known. Two banquet dinners (included in
your conference fee) offer the perfect
opportunity to dress to the nine's and
will feature entertainment afterwards.
Then after hours, we keep right on going,
moving into Atlanta's vibrant night life
via hassle-free, regularly scheduled mini
shuttle buses.
What Does It Cost?
The organizers of Southern Comfort have
worked hard to put together the most
beneficial and fun convention at the
lowest possible cost to its attendees. In
fact, this year prices have been rolled
back to 1993 levels.
Attendees are responsible for securing
and paying for their hotel
accommodations, which are reasonably
priced at $59/night, single or double.
A substantial discount on the cost
of the convention is available to
those who pay their convention
registration fee in full by September 1.
This can be paid by check, money order
or major credit card when you return
the attached registration form to us at
SCC, PO Box 77591, Atlanta, GA
30357-1591. Or you can register
by phone with MasterCard or Visa by
calling (404) 633-6470.
What Is Included With Your Registration?
Your registration fee includes admission
to all seminars, complimentary regularly
scheduled mini shuttle bus service, two
night-time banquets, three luncheons and
access to the vendor areas.
Meals included in your Conference fee
are:
Lunch - Thursday, Friday and Sat.
Dinner - Friday and Saturday
Entertainment programs follow dinner both
evenings. Current plans call for a
casino night replete with karaoke in the
adjacent lounge on Friday with an auction
for prizes using your night's winnings.
Saturday's entertainment will feature
some of the best local talent with
nationally known entertainers at this
wrap-up gala. Formal dress is optional
for Saturday night.
