Styles

Breast forms are either symmetrical (can be turned to fit either side of the body) or asymmetrical (fits only right or left side of the body)

Types

There are two basic types, weighted and non-weighted. The weighted type are usually made of silicone gel and the non-weighted type are generally foam rubber. The weighted type helps hold the bra in place around the rib cage. The non-weighted type adds shaping to a bra but may slip during certain movements.

Price

Breast forms are expensive because they are not mass produced. Each one is made by hand and follows several steps and procedure in the manufacturing process.

Care

All breast forms, regardless of material composition, should be handled carefully because they are easily punctured by any sharp object, such as a fingernail. While the liquid silicone generally doesn't leak, the puncture will cause tearing and ruin the form. The forms should also be washed with a mild liquid soap from time to time as part of a good hygienic program.
