Use the NNTP Settings property sheet to set limits on posting articles, to enable control messages, and to enable moderated newsgroups.
Option | Description |
Allow client posting | Allows clients to post articles to newsgroups on this news site. Microsoft NNTP Service automatically clears this check box if the failure retry limit is exceeded. |
Limit post size | Specifies the largest single article that a user can post within a range of 1 to 32,000 KB. |
Limit connection size | Specifies the maximum amount of data that a user can post during a connection within a range of 1 to 4,000 MB. |
Allow servers to pull news articles from this server | Allows other NNTP servers to use pull feeds to get multiple articles at a time from this server. |
Allow control messages | Allows clients and servers to send control messages that create and remove newsgroups and delete individual articles. See Processing Control Messages for more information. |
SMTP server for moderated groups | Specifies the DNS name of the SMTP mail server that sends articles to the moderators of newsgroups or specifies the directory path where these articles are placed. The directory path must be a local directory or a network directory mapped to a drive letter. |
Default moderator domain |
Specifies the default domain for moderated newsgroups. The domain must be a qualified domain name. Articles posted to moderated newsgroups that have no specified moderator are sent to: news_group_name@default_moderator_domain where news_group_name is the name of the newsgroup to which the article is sent and default_moderator_domain is the value you specify for this option. |
Administrator Email account |
Specifies an e-mail address for receiving the nondelivery reports (NDRs) of moderated newsgroup articles that cannot be delivered to the specified moderator. To enable sending NDRs, create a new DWORD value named MailFromHeader with a value of 1 in the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NntpSvc\Parameters\ |
