Use the Home Directory property sheet to change the location or properties of the directory hierarchy that is used to store newsgroup articles.
Note The home directory must reside on a Microsoft Windows NT Server disk partition formatted as Windows NT File System (NTFS).
Option | Description |
A directory located on this computer | Uses a local drive on this computer for the home directory. |
A share located on another computer | Uses a network share on another computer on your network for the home directory. |
Local path | The path to the home directory located on this computer. Choose Browse to locate the directory. |
Network directory | The UNC name (for example, \\Server_Name\Server_Share) of the home directory located on another computer. Choose Connect As to specify the user name and password needed to connect to this computer. |
Allow posting | Allows news clients to post articles to the newsgroups located in this directory hierarchy. |
Restrict newsgroup visibility | Lists newsgroups in this directory only for users who have access permission for the newsgroups. This option adds processing overhead and should not be used for newsgroups that allow anonymous access. |
Log access |
Writes log records to the IIS access log that list News client access to newsgroups in this directory hierarchy. To enable logging, you must also select the Enable logging check box in the News Site property sheet. |
Index news content | The newsgroups in this directory are indexed to enable searching for specific text. See Indexing Newsgroups with Microsoft Index Server. |
Secure Communications | Choose Edit to specify that SSL security is required to access the newsgroups located in this directory hierarchy. |
Require Secure Channel | Requires the client to connect using SSL to access newsgroups located in the directory hierarchy. |
Require 128-bit Encryption | Requires the client to use 128-bits high-strength SSL encryption. |
