Colour Format Details

Each picture shows a 2x zoomed section of the same frame from a video captured in 5 different colour formats: 24 bit, YUY2, 15 bit, BTYUV and YUV9. The picture are in roughly descending order of quality.

To view the pictures at their best quality you will need to make sure that your screen colour depth is 24 bit or 32 bit (use the Windows Display control panel to check this).

Best image quality.

YUY2

Image quality very nearly as good as 24 bit RGB.

15 bit RGB

Notice how the colours begin to break up.

BTYUV

Notice the blocky colours around the slope of the roof and the loss of colour on the chimney.

YUV9

Colours look very blocky and inaccurate.
