Internet
Sets the way in which you connect to the Internet for browsing within our windows, and for accessing our interactive features.

  Show me

Note This setting is independent of how you connect for e-mail and file transfers.

Top   Connect via
This sets how you connect to the internet.

If you are on a network and don't have your own modem, you will probably only have two choices: TCP/IP and Microsoft IMAP. Choose the relevant one.

If you do have your own modem, you will see a list of dial-up connections as well as TCP/IP, Microsoft IMAP and Any dial-up connection.

  Any dial-up connection
Choose this option if you have a permanent connection to the internet.

  Specific dial-up connection
Choose whichever account you prefer to use to connect to the internet.

Top   I connect through a Proxy server
If this is ticked then internet requests will be sent using Proxy protocols. This is only relevant if you are connecting via TCP/IP or Microsoft IMAP, and if your network uses a Proxy gateway to the internet.

If this is unticked then internet requests will be sent using normal internet protocols.

Note If you are unable to browse the internet within our windows and yet you can do it successfully using a browser application, try changing this Proxy setting.

Top   Website groups
You will see a selection of pages for different types of internet sites.

The first page, Websites, is the choice of pages that appears if you click the Websites button on any toolbar in the program. This is the only page that you can add your own addresses to, all the other pages offer a fixed selection of choices which you can download from our site.

Click the Download button to fetch the latest list of choices to the page you're on.
This will erase your current selection of websites, including any that you have added yourself.

Click the Add button to add a new website
(This only applies to the Websites page)

Click the Edit button to change a website address
(This only applies to the Websites page)

Click the Delete button to remove a website

Tip If you use Internet Explorer® as your browser, when you click the Add button you will be able to see your Favourite websites as you've set them in Explorer, and you can choose them instead of typing in the addresses.
