There are further settings in the Optional section.

Top   Where do I find this information?
You basically need three things to access a website:

  Your host name
Your user name or ID for the website
  Your password for the website

There are several places where you can find this information:

  Call your Service Provider
Check the settings in your current FTP program
  Visit your Service Provider's website
  Ask your system administrator

Top   Connect via
This sets how you connect to the website host.

If you are on a network and don't have your own modem, you will probably only have TCP/IP in the list. Choose it and go on to Basic settings.

If you do have your own modem, you will see a list of dial-up connections as well as TCP/IP and Any dial-up connection.

  Any dial-up connection
Choose this option if you have a permanent connection to the internet.

  Specific dial-up connection
With some website accounts you must connect using a specific dial-up connection as a way of verifying that you are a subscriber to that website. If so, choose the relevant dial-up connection.

If your website account can be accessed via any dial-up connection, choose your favourite one, trypically the most reliable or free one.

This is the User ID that you use to identify yourself to the website. Sometimes it's the same as your e-mail address, or up to (but not including) the @ symbol.

Alternatively, some hosts will allow you use anonymous as the User ID, and your e-mail address as the password.
    Examples:

  Password Required
This is the password that matches your User ID.

If you are using anonymous as the User ID and you don't have a specific password, enter your e-mail address.
    Examples:

This is all you need to set in order to transfer files to and from your website.

These settings alone will work in the majority of cases where you either connect to the internet using a modem, or via a network in the office. However, additional security may be in place and you might have to set a few more options in the Optional settings.
