2002 New Features- Tray icon balloons are clickable now. You can run default actions, locate channels in list or open channel properties by clicking on balloons. See WatzNew™ Settings ® Behavior section for balloon click behavior customization.
- List of Updated Channels window has been improved. Now you can view the update time for each channel, sort channels by title/date in ascending or descending order and perform group or individual tasks like clearing the updated state for selected channels or open Channel Properties window.
- Alert windows will now register themselves at the taskbar. New option called 'ю Show alert windows in taskbar' has been added to WatzNew™ Settings window ® Appearance tab to control this new behavior.
- WatzNew™ supports date/time substitution for HTTP channel's URL Path parameters. You can not only make time-dependent search patterns, but load information from time-dependent URLs.
- The list of available Date/Time macros extended significantly. See the Search pattern and message template macros reference section for a complete list.
- 'ю Allow partial pattern match' function added to channel's properties.
- 'ю Preprocess XML entities' function added to channel's properties. This option is useful to decode parameters retrieved from the XML data sources.
- When importing channels from file, you can now select/deselect all channels from the list, invert selection or select new channels only. Just right-click on the channels list and select the appropriate option form the context menu.
- WatzNew™ dialog messages will be accompanied with corresponding Windows sounds now.
- WatzNew™ will now ask you if you want to disable 'ю Alert on general changes' option on closing Channel Properties window if you have successfully defined search pattern and message template.
- Hot tracking effect option added to folder properties in WatzNew™ Scheme Editor (Fonts & Colors).
- Ability to add /* ... */ comments to search pattern added. Note that WatzNew™ 1.8 and below won't understand these comments, so your new channels that contain comments would be backward-incompatible with older versions of WatzNew™.
- Now you can automatically close the running copy of WatzNew™ by executing the 'watznew /close' command at the command prompt.
Changes- The content of Alert Window will be rendered in the same colors as in list, taking into consideration it's updated/disabled/error state.
- WatzNew™ will not trigger it's scheme to default one at installation.
- Channel update date and time are shown in list using the current locale settings.
- WatzNew™ would initialize itself at start a bit faster.
- WatzNew™ will detect multiple IPs now and will switch to online/offline mode more accurately.
- By default, WatzNew™ now has the 'ю Raised 3D border' option turned on. Default scheme colors and fonts are slightly modified for better distinguishing of folders and channels.
- Channel list popup menu has been rearranged for better usability.
- Since now, 'Browser', 'Mail' and 'Perl' sections of WatzNew™ Settings window will be hidden until the user enables the 'ю Show advanced settings' checkbox.
Bugs Fixed- WatzNew™ would freeze when connecting to unreachable or slow servers — fixed.

- Fixed issues with the size of the main menu and Search Window when Large Fonts has been set in Windows.
- When using WatzNew™ in two-monitor system, it would prevent the attempts to drag the main window onto the second monitor — fixed.

- WatzNew™ would freeze in specific cases when rendering channels — fixed.
- [Ctrl+F5] hotkey ("Stop checking") wouldn't work — fixed.
- WatzNew™ wouldn't substitute date/time macros in context menu action captions — fixed.
- WatzNew™ won't allow to copy text to clipboard in some cases in registered version — fixed.
- WatzNew™ would crash sometimes when importing multiple channels from file with 'Update ALL' option set — fixed.
- Some of the interface messages were not available for translation and appeared in English even in localized versions — fixed for most translations.
- Fixed a GDI leak that caused improper text rendering under WinXP with ClearType feature enabled.
- Minor problem with html rendering fixed. WatzNew™ would wrap long strings improperly in some cases.
- Minor problem with displaying tab control background under Windows XP fixed.
- WatzNew™ wouldn't substitute &xxx; entities with corresponding symbols when exporting plain-text messages to clipboard or displaying them in a balloon hint — fixed.
- If the <a> ... <a> tags in the source document where not closed properly, URLs would be shifted — fixed. WatzNew™ now will get rid of unmatched closing, opening or nested anchor tags.

Please note that due to changes in HTML handling, WatzNew™ 1.9 can give false alerts the first time it updates some of your old version 1.8 channels. Once it updates them, it will work as usual.

- In WatzNew™ Channel Wizard, it was impossible to roll back to the first step until the URL has been entered in 'Web document location' dialog — fixed.
- While locating the channel via the 'Find Channel' function, WatzNew™ would enable the channel's 'Always visible in list' feature, but won't restore it's state after search — fixed.
- Launching default channel action from alert window won't clear it's updated state — fixed.
