Story: I won't go into the story because storylines almost never make a game better, in some cases they actually harm the game like Street Fighter II. It's kinda of neat in the single player game, but when you are playing real people do you really giva a rat's ass whats happening in Azeroth?
Warcraft 2 is a real-time strategy game. The goal of the game is to
destroy all of your enemy or make them surrender. You normally
begin with one peasant, and you build your town and armies to defend
you. Sometimes you start with part, or all of the town already built.
How you choose to build everything is up to you, there are countless
ways to win, that is what makes this such a strategy game. You must
make sure to counter every move your opponent makes.
There are three resources that you must have to build your civilization.
Gold, Lumber, and Oil.
Gold Mine.
It takes money to make anything and this is
where you get it.
Gold is the number one resource.
If you want to win, you must out mine your enemies. Many new players don't
realize this. You must build your Town hall as close to the mine as
possible every game! You can usually tell the winner after the game is
done by how much Gold they have mined. The winner almost always out
mines his enemies.
Lumber.
The same
applies to Lumber, You must have lumber to build almost everything. Lumber
takes longer to get than gold so you might have to put more people on
it. If the trees get too far from the Town Hall or Lumber mill build
a Lumber mill or Hall closer to the trees, so your peasants won't have
so far to walk.
Oil is only
necessary when you have to build ships. If you can build ships you
must insure a steady supply of oil to build more ships. You really
don't have to worry much about oil once you put 3-4 tankers on it and
build an oil refinery. The only thing you have to worry about, usually,
is protecting your oil supply.

Now that you know the very basics, read through the Human/Orc Attack Units and Human/Orc building pages. I have also included, in them, my evaluation of some of the units and buildings for those players who already know what they are doing. Also, check out my spells page. Then, you might want to check out some of my strategies against other players.
