Joe Traver recently concluded a term as the 38th president of the National Press Photographers' Association, the first freelance photographer to be elected to the post. Traver has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, and in 1990 he was the National Football League Photographer of the Year. He lives in Buffalo and is a contributing photographer with the Reuters News picture Service. He is represented by the Gamma-Liaison agency.
