The Country Information Database
provides you with information about more than 260 countries and
territories. It includes each place's location on the world map,
its capital city, currency (code and name), time (current time,
difference from GMT, DST period) and telephone codes (country
code, area code of capital, international dial prefix number).
You can search the database by keyword.
As well as being a useful resource in its own right, information in the Country Information Database is used when you add cities in the World Clock application from the "World Clock Setting" view as detailed above (see 9-2a (2)).
10-1 How to use the Country Information Database
Select the continent that the country you are after is in, from a choice of: North America, South America, Africa, Europe, NIS, Asia/Middle East, and Oceania/Pacific. Individual countries are listed alphabetically. Select a country (you can see more countries by tapping the arrow or pressing the Up/Down hardware buttons).
Tap one of the (from left to right) "Map", "Info" or "Phone" icons to view that type of information. You can also search for a country using a keyword search by tapping the magnifying glass icon (far right).
10-2 "Map" mode
In map mode, the approximate location of the country blinks on the world map.
10-3 "Info" mode
This displays the capital city, currency (code /name), and time (current time, variation from GMT, DST period) .
10-4 "Phone" mode
This provides telephone information, including country code, area code, and international code.
10-4 "Search" mode
This provides the search for a country using a keyword.
