5 Prefs

You can choose several settings in the "Abroad! Prefs" view; e.g. the software's startup view, the world map type, home currency and so on. If you set your country in the "Present to:" in the "Format" section of "Prefs" application, initial settings are optimized for you.

Home Curr : Base currency in Currency Exchange, World Clock

There are two ways to calculate currency rates. The examples are as follows:

1 x (Currency C) = (rate C) x (myCurrency = JPY)

...

*languages are selected from Danish, Englsih, French, German,

(1) Default world map is set according to this list.

(2) Home currency is set to your currency, appears in the first item in the list, and the rates are standardized to your currency.

(3) Capital city in your country will be set as home country and appears in the first item in world clock.

(4) Major titles and unit types are displayed in the languages above.

These settings are valid in the Palm OS 2.0 or later, as these informations are not available in Palm 1000 or Palm 5000.

In the Currency Code List setting view, I used "1 USD = n Unit" mode. This is because, (1) most currency information homepages prepare currency code in this format(2) rates of some currencies are fixed to USD and (3) you can download the latest currency rate database based on USD at http://sub.nu/‾inferno/palm/

In Abroad! 3.9 or before, the settings are optimized for users in US, which covered about 65 % of registered users. However, Abroad! 4.0 or later supports more than 95 % of registered users and diminish their efforts to build thier settings. From this version, I think Abroad! became a world wide application.

If you have not registered Abroad!, it takes several seconds to optimize database to your country at every startup as any settings are not saved until you register.
(Once you register Abroad!, NO additional fee is required for the future updates.)
