Egon Ronay has a certain affinity for food, so it's no surprise that Egon Ronay's Guide to Pubs and Inns also gives a fair emphasis to lunch and dinner. Published at around £13 by Egon Ronay's Guides (he likes to see his name in print), the book is arranged by place name, but there's a 'regional roundup' with summary details by county to check out pubs in your area. Clear two-colour maps help too. Although neatly laid out on the page, the entries are quite variable in format.

Instructions on how to find a place (usually good) can be almost anywhere, and food isn't even mentioned if not recommended, while it can dominate an entry otherwise. This guide isn't as comprehensive as The Good Pub Guide, nor as foody as Good Pub Food, but would compliment either as there are a fair number of different choices. The guide makes a big thing of not charging pubs to appear in it, though the very visibly sponsorship by a brewery and a cheese company makes this holier-than-thou attitude a little indelicate.
