Changing the relationship between objects and layers in a converted placed fileThe Parent button and Child button in the Properties palette let you change the relation of objects and sublayers to layers. For example, suppose an Adobe Illustrator file has three layers that each contain several objects. You could select and move any layer or object up a level (with the Parent button) or down a level (with the Child button) in the layer hierarchy.
