Magnifying or reducing views


    The zoom tools and commands magnify or reduce the display up to 64 times the actual size, or 800%. Zooming does not change the actual size of the file, only the magnification at which you see it.

    Note: Although an object may look pixellated when zoomed above 100%, it may export to SWF as a vector. To see whether the object will export as a vector or a bitmap, use the Preview Export Compression command (see Previewing compositions.)

To zoom in:

    Do one of the following:

    • Select the zoom tool The zoom tool . The pointer becomes a magnifying glass containing a plus sign. Click at the center of the area you want to magnify. Each click magnifies the view to the next preset percentage. When the object has reached its maximum magnification level, the magnifying glass appears blank.
    • Choose View > Zoom In. Each click magnifies the view to the next preset percentage. When the file has reached its maximum magnification level, the command is dimmed.

To zoom out:

    Do one of the following:

    • Select the zoom tool The zoom tool , then hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS). The pointer becomes a magnifying glass containing a minus sign. Click the center of the area you want to reduce. Each click reduces the view to the previous preset percentage. When the object has reached its maximum reduction level, the magnifying glass appears blank.
    • Choose View > Zoom Out. Each click reduces the view to the previous preset percentage. When the file has reached its maximum reduction level, the command is dimmed.

To magnify by dragging:

  1. Select the zoom tool The zoom tool .
  2. Drag a marquee around the area you want to magnify.

To display artwork at 100%:

    Do one of the following:

    • Choose View > Actual Size.
    • Double-click the zoom tool The zoom tool .
    • Double-click the hand tool The hand tool .
