We› have 17 members who were members last› year who haven't paid yet who will› get a second notice in the middle of› February. Altogether we have 48› members.›› Discussion then went to the annual› dinner on Friday, February 13th at› Lambrou's. JACK invited a few› guests.›› ALAN SHARKIS then spoke about that he› almost feels like Alex at this point.› He has a few letters wishing Happy› New Year including a letter from› STUART MURRAY. Stuart is going to› stop editing Futura because he's too› busy. Also, about ROBERT DeLETTER› who sent us a database program which› ALAN will demo. ALAN read the letter› to members. Then ALAN informed› members he was at East Meadow library› and asked about the Internet. They› said to check back with them next› month. HARRY TUTHILL says he signed› up preliminarily with Freeport› Library. ALAN says they have 16› modems for a couple of million› people. A member stated he knows› they won't go above 28 Modems. FRANK› KUZLOWSKI has had experience with› Suffolk County's system. Frank› states that there are odd hours, such› as at night and early mornings on› weekdays when it's a good time to use› the Internet through that service,› and he thinks that Nassau's› experience will be similar. The› libraries will give you software good› for IBMs.›› RON FETZER will have a new membership› list in February.›› HAROLD PEGLER is starting a new› library disk. He now has 705 regular› disks.›› DEMONSTRATIONS:› ALAN demo'd a Stuart Murray disk from› Scotland, SANBRO June 30, 1991, in› Polish, called Sound Tracker Player,› a digital music disk. On Side Two is› a Serpent game, written in BASIC.›› ALAN's next demo was a disk with a› program called SID, written by ROBERT› DeLETTER, with which you can create› catalogs of all your disks. It is› the same on both sides.›› ALAN then demo'd this month's› Newsletter disk. He pointed out a few› of the situations he has to work with› to put this Newsletter together. He› tries very hard to include everything› he can if he gets things in time. He› then ran some of The Oregon Trail› program, a text adventure. After› that he ran part of the GTIA Sketch› Pad program on side one. Then side› two, Smokey, another text adventure. › He then ran a program called "Repair› Card???" with music. Then a more› practical program with a repair› station and he gave a sample of how› it works.›› RON then demoed an ABBUC #51 disk› wishing all a merry Xmas with music› 1997 but the disk was no good. Also› there was a Lotto program and Cross› Words(in English) a nice program but› pretty old. Then a game called› Yatsee, a game called Polka.›› Then RON demoed a Czekoslovakian disk› with music, a Xmas demo from JUDY, a› BBC self-demo with music or text and› you can change the language by going› to the windows.
