You must have Internet Explorer version 6 or later. To check the version number, choose About from the Help menu in the Internet Explorer application. If necessary, reinstall the browser as described below. Note: If you have IE6 and receive the following error message: “Internet Explorer 6 is not installed on your computer. Please install it now.", check the Internet Explorer version. If it is earlier than 6, you must reinstall the browser as described below. Note: Problems with displaying media may be caused by a missing plug-in. Even if you have IE6, media may not play or be viewed properly if you do not have the proper plug-in (QuickTime, RealPlayer, etc.). ======================== IE BROWSER REINSTALLATION: If you have Win98, and your Internet Explorer Browser is older than version IE 6, you should install this IE6 version. You can upgrade your browser from your CD or DVD-ROM. If you are using an English version of Windows, to install IE6: 1. From your CD or DVD-ROM go to the IE directory (IE\0009) and run ie6setup.exe. (This will install the newer version of IE 6). ============================= SOUNDS If you experience sound problems, you should download and install the most up to date audio drivers for your sound card. Most sound card manufacturers provide support for this from their websites. ============================= CHIME If you have Windows 2000, and experience errors referring to missing files or plugins during the installation or when trying to view a media item, the problem may be connected to a missing Chimes plugin. Check to make sure that the npchime.dll file appears on your computer. (It usually appears in your Microsoft Internet Explorer directory under the plugins directory.) If the file does not appear, you should do the following: 1. Go to \Setup\Chime on the CD and run the .exe file that is there. 2. Continue the installation of this file, until the "Select method for finding web browser" dialog box appears. 3. Choose the "Specify the location of a web browser" option. 4. Browse to specify the location of the Internet Explorer. 5. Finish the installation. ============================= PRINTING AND EXPORTING COMPLICATIONS If you are unable to export to DOC format and receive one of the following error messages: "The macros in this project are disabled." From the Tools menu, choose Macro and then Security. 3. Set the Security level to medium and click OK. NOTE: You may need to manually end an instance of WinWord. 1. Save all documents. 2. Press Ctrl + Atl + Delete. 3. End all WinWord processes that appear. Researcher supports version 97, version 2000 and version XP of Microsoft Word. If you are not satisfied with printing using Microsoft Word, use IE Explorer for printing. To print using IE Explorer: 1. From the View menu, choose Options. 2. Select the Display & Print tab. 3. Mark the Print using Internet Explorer check box. 4.
