DUNE II: THE BUILDING OF A DYNASTY Multiple Sound Device Patch (Beta) (09/22/93) This patch will allow you to play DUNE II music and sound effects on more than one audio sound device at one time. Simply follow the directions listed below. ATTENTION! THIS IS AN OPTIONAL PATCH. IT IS NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY THE GAME. It is intended only for users that own and use more than one sound device or card at a time. If you only use one sound device, you do not need this patch. 1. Backup the following files... DUNE.CFG, SETUP.EXE, and SETUPENG.DIP These files can be found on your hard drive in the directory where you installed Lands Of Lore. 2. Copy the new SETUP.EXE, and SETUPENG.DIP into the directory where DUNE II is stored. 3. Run SETUP.EXE and configure your sound devices. When using two different sources for sound output, memory requirements will be high. To run DUNE II we recommend at least 621,000 bytes of free lower memory. It is enitrely possible that your configuration will require more or less than this amount, so don't be afraid to experiment to find your optimal setup. 4. Exit out of the SETUP.EXE program after you have made all of your choices. After exiting out of the SETUP.EXE program, simply type DUNE2 to start the game. PLEASE REMEMBER that this is a beta version of the mixed sound support patch. We appreciate your comments regarding any mixed sound problems you may encounter. CREATIVE LABS WAVEBLASTER OWNERS: As of 09/22/93 this patch has been updated to support Sound Blaster 16 and Wave Blaster owners. To receive mixed sound support (digitized sound from the SB16, and music from the Wave Blaster) do the following: 1. Follow steps 1 - 3 as shown above. 2. In the SETUP program assign sound (music) option to Sound Canvas (General MIDI), sound effect option to SBPRO, and digitized option to SBPRO. 3. After exiting SETUP.EXE, copy the files WAVESET.BAT and WAVESET.DAT to your LANDS of LORE directory. 4. Type WAVESET anytime you wish to play DUNE II in Wave Blaster/SB16 mode. -Westwood Studios Audio Department-
