Thank you for purchasing CYBER RACE! When you read through the game manual and quick reference card, you will become acquainted with CYBER RACE game play. In order to provide you with additional information that was not included in those paper documents, we have included this README file in the game software. Some of the information may relate to technical issues while other remarks offer greater detail concerning the game design. We encourage you to read all of the information written below. * CyberRace requires at least 524K free conventional memory. * If you are using a sound card other than SoundBlaster and the boot disk, you must add to the corresponding files on your boot disk the sound card configuration information from your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT. * Except for a few instances, you will hear dialog only in the opening and ending scenes of the game due to the large amounts of memory required to store speech files. * The Num Lock must be off in order for the keypad controls to function. * Your joystick or ThrustMaster will work only during the race; you must use keyboard controls during the cinematic sequences. * If you use a ThrustMaster input device connected to a sound card game port, the "Hat" controls may not function properly. In such cases, we advise you to connect your ThrustMaster to a separate game port. * The number of laps you need to complete a race varies from race to race. In the opening race, you have up to 5 laps to the finish. In the second race, there are 6. The further you progress in the game, the more laps for you to race. * If you use a slower computer, such as a 386 20 MHz, and you race with high detail landscapes, the sound effects may echo due to greater demands placed on the system. * When you use the Electronic Tablet to remove items from your sled, you are not refunded the money you originally paid for those items. * When you activate the Replay option during a cinematic sequence, you will see that sequence again from its beginning. Even though the game will preserve your previous selections from the Strategy Options and Electronic Tablet, the replayed sequence will stop at these screens again to allow you to make additional selections. * When you activate the Replay option at the very start of a race, you may see only a freeze frame or a very short repeating scene from the current race. The replay will not show the previous cinematic sequence or previous race. * If the race seems to suddenly jump back to a previously travelled portion of the race, check the Game Control Menu to see if you accidentally activated the Replay option. * When you wish to pause the game, bring up the Game Control Menu rather than pressing your computer's Pause button. * If you experience any sound problems, or intermittent problems with the game, it is probably related to IRQ or DMA conflicts with your sound card. Follow your sound card's directions to reconfigure your card to run at a lower interupt number. We recomend running at an IRQ of 5, and a DMA of 1.
