Straddle the centuries in WordPerfect 8
WordPerfect 8 handles 21st century dates without a hitch, but it makes a few assumptions you need to know about. In table cells set in the dd/mm/yy date format, if you enter a year smaller than 50, WordPerfect assumes that the intended year is after 2000. If you enter 50 or a number greater than 50, WordPerfect assumes this refers to the 20th century. So if you enter 16/8/24, the program's calculations will treat that date as August 16, 2024. If you enter 16/8/55, the date will be treated as August 16, 1955. Also, if you enter a date, but change the year later on, WordPerfect assumes that the century remains the same. So if you change 16/8/24 to 16/8/55, WordPerfect will treat the new date as August 16, 2055. Of course, you can override this automatic feature by entering four-digit numbers for years. û George Campbell | Category:Word processing Issue: September 1998 |
