Chatting in the office

I was hoping you might have an answer to a small problem I have. When we used to have Windows 3.11 in the office, there was a little program in the Network group called Chat. We used this to chat to other co-workers on the LAN. Now we have a Win95 network, and we can't seem to find where the Chat application is. Does Win95 have such a thing? I guess there's not much use for it now.

There are many public domain applications that will chat between two machines on the Internet, but not too many designed purely for a local LAN. Fortunately, Windows Chat has been recompiled for Windows 95 and you can find it at http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/info/otherutils.htm.
Don't get Windows Chat confused with Microsoft Chat 2.0. MS Chat 2.0 is a completely different program using IRC style commands for chatting on the Internet. It's also available on the Web at ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/mschat2.exe.
