More on disappearing fonts
Tip In Roy Chambers' reply to Yuval Avrahami's question about only four fonts being available in Word 7 (March p163) there was no tip on how to overcome the problem. My boss discovered a fortnight ago that "someone" had disappeared all but four fonts from his version of Word, and it took me the best part of a day to discover how to remedy the situation. Roy seems quite correct in his explanation of the underlying pathology of the problem, and what my boss (or "someone") had done was to reset the default printer to the simplest Text printer at the head of the list (File--Print--Printer). By selecting the type of printer actually connected to the system, the fonts magically reappeared and everyone was happy. If Yuval accidentally selected the wrong printer in this way, then only the fonts applicable to that printer would be made available under Word, even if a more sophisticated printer were physically connected to the system. If the correct printer is selected, then whatever fonts are shown under Word are all that it can print on that printer anyway. - Alan McCutcheon | Category: Word processing Issue: May 1997 Pages: 152 |
