Tip In Helpline on page 184 of the October [1996] issue of PC World, a reply is given to a request for assistance in transferring Word documents to PageMaker 5. Assuming that Word 6 is the version referred to, there is a better method than that given. A filter file, wd6imp.flt, is simply added to the Aldus subdirectory Aldus\ukenglish\filters. The Aldus directory is set up by the PageMaker installation process. I have found copies of the filter file on various FTP sites which have dedicated PageMaker directories. I have been using this method for almost two years without problems. To insert a Word document, select Place from the PageMaker File menu, make the choice of file from the selection box displayed and press OK.
