Can you run DOS without Win95?

I was wondering if you don't have Dos now, but have Windows 95 how could you run a proper Dos (i.e not it's prompt). I have tried the restart to MS-DOS mode on the menu, but it doesn't let me use the mouse and it also doesn't let me access the CD-ROM drive. Please help me fast, I need some good advice.

Ting Lui, the answer is yes. You can run DOS 7 all by itself, without Windows 95 loaded. DOS 7 comes with Windows 95. To run it you can press <F8> when the system is starting up and select Command Prompt only from the menu. This is only necessary if you want to run very greedy or badly behaved programs, such as games, that won't work in a DOS window.
If you want to use the mouse and access the CD-ROM drive, you need to set up the necessary drivers in your config.sys and autoexec.bat files, just as you did with earlier versions of DOS. If you have any copies of the config.sys and autoexec.bat you used with previous versions of DOS, these may help. If not, try reinstalling the drivers for the mouse and CD-ROM from the floppy disks that should have been supplied with these devices.
