The case of the unsolicited Notepad

I have a small problem with Notepad and Win95 which I'm trying to solve. Whenever I boot up my computer, Notepad suddenly mysteriously appears out of nowhere and opens a blank document. Is there any way I can prevent this happening?

Thanks for your letter to Help Screen. My guess is that a shortcut to Notepad has found its way into your Windows/Start menu/Programs/Startup directory. You can find out quickly by opening the Start menu, and choosing Programs and then Startup. If there is a shortcut to Notepad there, you can delete it: right-click on the Start button, choose Open to open the browser, then double-click on Programs and double-click on Startup. Now select the shortcut and press <Del>.
