Don't trust Navigator with your cache
Tip In following your tips on managing a Web browser's disk cache, I discovered an interesting phenomenon. Even though my browser's disk cache was set to the recommended 5Mb, when I selected Options--Network Preferences and clicked the Clear Disk Cache Now button, I got back a whopping 23Mb of disk space! Most of those 23Mb were file allocation units for the cache. The lesson: no matter what your cache size is set to, you should delete the contents of your browser's cache directory at least once a month. - A L O'Hearn | Category: Internet Issue: Feb 1997 Pages: 178 |
