Q: How can I see and use characters and symbols from a font that doesn't appear in the Font list displayed in Word's Symbol dialog box when I click InsertòSymbol? Several foreign-language and symbolic fonts that I would like to use don't appear in this list. Dr. Harold C. Simmons,Washington, D.C.
A: You aren't limited to the fonts in Word's Symbol dialog. To see the characters in any font available in Windows, use the main toolbar to change to the desired font before you select InsertòSymbol. When the Symbol dialog box appears, select (normal text) in the dialog box's Font list to display that font's characters (see FIGURE 2). Click a character in the dialog box once for an enlarged view; double-click it to insert it in the document. By GEORGE CAMPBELL |
