Convert password-protected documents

If you password-protect your documents and are switching word processors, don't uninstall your current program until after you've converted all of your documents to the new app. You'll need to use your original word processor to remove the password protection, which you can restore using your new program after you've made the conversion. Here's how to remove password protection from Word documents:

1. Open the protected document, providing the password when requested.

2. Select FileûSave As.

3. Inside the Save As dialogue box, click the Options button. Then select the asterisks in the Password field of the Save Options dialogue box, and press <Delete>. Click OK.

4. Click Save in the Save As dialogue box to complete the operation. Note: You may want to change the file name and file format at this time, converting the document to the format of your new program.

5. If prompted to confirm overwriting the existing document, click Yes.
