Add boldface and italics from the keyboard


Word 97 lets you format text as you type. To create boldfacing, type an asterisk (*) at the beginning and end of the text you want in boldface, either as you type or during editing. To italicise text, type an underscore (_) at the beginning and end of the desired text.

Before you try this, select ToolsûAutoCorrect, click the Autoformat As You Type tab, and make sure the *Bold* and _Underline_ with real formatting box is checked.
