Putting shortcuts in the Start Up folder isn't the only way to make a program run automatically when you start Windows 95 or NT 4.0. Some programs run invisibly, thanks to settings they changed in the Windows Registry. StartUp Manager (freeware available on our cover CD) reveals them all and lets you disable applications temporarily or permanently.

Because StartUp Manager deals with some rather obscure Registry entries, I recommend this utility only for advanced users, though online help is available.
